Scoopy Lou

I came across this tea party one day. Looks like all Scarlet's friends were invited but me.

My mom sewed this little petticoat for me when I was little. Both my girls have worn it.

Big blues.

She was so proud of her Belle bandaid. She has a weird high tolerance for pain which she doesn't get from me.

This month we had a little scare. Scarlet was limping and in a lot of pain. It turned out she might have had an infection in her hip which could've been serious so we had to spend a night in the hospital. Everything was ok and we got to home in the morning.

I had to take a picture of this dolly because it's he cutest thing ever. Scarlet's primary leader, Jewel, made it! EVERYBODY looks up to Jewel- she's AMAZING!

Squissy

Scarlet says "squissy" instead of "squishy" and she dies for black olives.

Scoopy Has A Pony

A little quirk about Scarlet is how she is obsessed with mustaches. I don't know why. No matter what she is eating or drinking, she'll somehow give herself a mustache and come show me. Like she'll be eating an apple and tell me she has an "apple mustache" or a "yogurt mustache" or a "water mustache". She's a strange girlie.

Charlie was telling the others that they were allowed to watch Charlie Brown and Scarlet strongly protested, " I want Scarlet Brown."

This is Scarlet's most recent knock knock joke:

Knock knock

Who is there?

Mary

Mary who?

Merry Christmas!

We like her most when she's sleeping...

Holy grumpy pants.

The is the Christmas afternoon nap. Look how Timmy and Jane have the same arm position.

Grammy and Baba got Scarlet a horsey. She sat on it for like an hour and a half. It was awesome.

Jared got Scarlet her first doll. She ADORES it. What is wrong with me, I've always just got her babies and never even thought to get her a doll yet. Good thing she has an Uncle Jared for these things.

Scoopy

In this video she is quoting Proverbs 16:24. Jacob has been learning it for our recitation day tomorrow and somehow Scarlet picked it up all on her own and surprised us.

Scarlet is wild- she bosses all of us around, all day! We all get such a kick out of her new phrases, like today when she said, "Are you kidding me?" She does this thing where she repeats herself about 4000 times when she wants something- its like demands on auto pilot. My personal favorite is when she repeats, "I'm hungry mom." Over and over and over and over. Even after she has just had a bowl of oatmeal, applesauce, potato soup, a cheese biscuit and a some yogurt. So we've learned that I'm hungry really means "I'm so tired, please put me to bed immediately." She LOVES to dance- especially if she has a "princess" (dress that twirls) on. Anytime I wear a dress or skirt she asks me, "Are you a princess mom? Does that one dance?" This means she wants me to twirl so we can find out if my dress is a princess our not (if it twirls or not), if it's not a princess than it's useless to even try to dance. You can't dance without a "princess".

I Call Her Scoopy

Scarlet calls macaroni "Smackaroni"
and none of us plan on filling her in on the real way to say it anytime soon.

The next thing I want to share about Scarlet is sort of sad. She gets mad at me when I'm not smiling. I must scowl a lot which is horrible! In my defense, it's not because I'm grumpy, most of the time it's just because my brain is so full- thinking of all I have to do. But Scarlet will say, "Mom are you happy?" and I will proceed to try and convince her I'm happy, but I'm just doing something. Then she scolds me, "Stop doing this.." and she'll imitate the face I'm making. Then I try to change my expression but I can't change it enough and she gets mad at me because she's not satisfied.

Wild and Free

"And though she be but little, she is fierce."

- Shakespeare

She is cuddling her birdie nest, two birdies and two eggs, and her blanky, all at the same time while sucking her thumb and sleeping.

We had a BBQ with friends.

She loves necklaces and makeup and polish and dresses so needless to say she was eager to have her ears pierced. I expected that there would be some wigging out but she did not even flinch. As in it did not faze her in the slightest.
This is what she said after, word for word, "That wasn't hurt mom, its softy. I need the other one."
The employee said it was the first time a little kid ever asked for the other one.

One last Scarlet quote. The other night, we had Paul and Ash over for homemade strawberry rhubarb pie and DQ soft serve. I got a plate for Scarlet and brought her to the table and she said, "I don't want it. I want puffed wheat." Ashley is my witness, she seriously refused to even take one bite. It was absurd.

Seriously Genius

My little Scarlet has a "getting into mommy's makeup" problem thats been going on for months. When I came across this idea I had to try it, despite the fact that it isn't at all natural. I found the tutorial here
It's basically old makeup containers filled with different colors of nail polish.
Let it dry and then voila! you have pretend makeup that's fun and looks super real.
I had three busy helpers so mine aren't perfect but I think Scarlet will be in heaven. We bought some little brushes and a mirror compact and some fancy bobby pins from the dollar store to go with it.

Scarlet the Wild One

I'm trying to be better about documenting Scarlet's life. She's the fourth, so naturally we don't take as many pictures of her as we did the first few kids. This is a little pirate ship she made at the library program this summer.

She LOVES babies babies babies. Tea party with almonds, raisins and marshmallows and water (all non messy snacks).

Just chill'in at the Beazer Hole our new favorite creek spot.

Sunday morning. Thank you for the dresses Tracie, they are all so cute and we love knowing that Summer used to wear them!

Big Sleepy Babies

Some things about Scarlet, our wildest baby.
She learned to crawl out of her packn'play way back in November, right about the same time she started opening doors on her own and refusing to sit in her highchair (I guess she noticed everyone else gets a chair).

In April, a month after she turned two she graduated to a bed.
She loves black olives, feta cheese and pistachios, fishy crackers, applesauce, pancakes, rice, cucumber and yogurt salad, and pita bread.
She cally Jacob "Cubby" and Jane used to be "Nye" but it turned into "Nunny" and Charlie is "Guy"
She love love loves lotions. One time she got into the Vaseline while I was getting ready and I just let her play with it. The whole jug was smeared all over the floor without a tile missed, then the walls, then my lets, then her whole body... She had the time of her life.

She also loves when Jane put makeup on her. Its about the only time I've seen her hold still for anything.

So we found these little feet sticking out and so we turned the corner to find this...

Scarlet asleep outside her room. But this wasn't half as cool as her friend Kash...

Sometimes a kitchen counter is irresistibly tempting.
(Tracie, I hope you don't mind I yanked this picture from your blog but its so cooooooool!)

Scarlet is Two. Thank Goodness.

We made chocolate and cherry playdough for Scarlet's 2nd Berfday. In our family we use Buttons to tell each other I love you. We might find a button on our pillow or in a shoe or pocket, or in your glass of water, in our oatmeal, the playdough... little reminders that we love each other.

She looks older now.

JJ is so sweet with Scoopy

Squish her.

Dress from Mommy.
Dress and cell phone from Grammy.

So pretty.

Gramma Gail finds the cutest birthday outfits.

Scarlet sleeps in a real bed now. Here is her teeny, new room.

Sweetie Pie

This is how Scarlet says cheese. She puts her hands up in front of her. I also want to note here that she dies for applesauce. Like a big jar a day loves it. She also loves hummus so we let her in our family club.  She's been talking all of a sudden and we laugh so hard when she surprises us with new words.

The other night Timmy took Scarlet up to bed for night night and she was so sad to go. We were all sitting, reading stories and she knew she was missing it. She cried a lot on the way up to bed and Jane couldn't take it. She came and hugged me and had a nice little cry for her little sister's pain. I get that feeling at times myself. Its hard for a little heart to handle.

We are loving the Little House series and trying out all the old fashioned recipes. Snow + maple syrup= snow candy.
