Scoopy Loo turns 7

Miss Scarlet is a natural teacher. She just loves to plan and teach the littles school. I love the new ideas she comes up with on her own.

She just loved this book from Grammy by Julie Andrews

Can't have a party for Scarlet without Klootcheh.
She got some beautiful doll clothes for her American doll.

She had some favorite friends come to play too.

This is Scarlet meeting new baby Jason. He was a darling boy.
Scarlet is shy but she does such a great job at her piano recitals.
She loves to wear stick on nails.
She got to have her bestie Lil come on vacation with us. Lily just felt like one of our own.
Scarlet was in theatre camp this year with her brothers. She was surprisingly brave. She even did a little hip sway that we all like impersonate.
I came across these old pics below and my heart almost cracked in half. I miss this little face.

Scarlet has been caring for her very own duck this year. She named her Lilleth after her friend Lily.
She wears moccasins to church because she lost her new church shoes. So cool!

Her poetry book she wrote finally came in the mail.

I came across this important tea party recently. Scarlet goes straight for the china dolls whenever we are at a thrift store. It reminds me of when our Emma friend was little.

Summer Love

The Summer Day
Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean-
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down-
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don't know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?

—Mary Oliver

These pics above are way old but I came across them and LOVE them so.

The girls worked so hard on their felt fairies. They are beautiful!

Jane does the cutes braids for Scarlet.
 New glasses!
I love seeing kids running in the fields. Ezra is the red dot :)
 Tallest slide in the land.
 Grammy's famous pond.
Hazel has a soft spot for animals just like Janey.
 Elk Island Park picnic
 The pugs! So snuggly.
We spent a lot of time at different playgrounds this Spring in my attempt to get the kids outside and give Grammy and Baba some relief from the busyness of all 8 of us at their house for 4 months!
Pizza's with the Day family.  They have 10 kids so that made 16 between the two of us- only wonder woman could make homemade pizza dough for that many humans!
I loved the three girls all in a row with their long golden hair.

Hazey Daisy is Three!!

She got this hand-me-down dress from the Zeldenrust's and literally lived in it for months.
Our tradition is to make peanut butter cookies for her tea parties.
She looked so little in the chair. She's obsessed with "Blasses"
Pony tail!
Hazel got to have popcorn and a movie with her pal Vila.
The Love of Learning Lab is perfect for Hazel's age.

Finally got out Grammy's bubble maker.
I love these lunch hour conversations.
Art on the church chairs.

Cousins!!
She calls this nightgown "Strawbiddy"

Nutella Nila Cookies with Bananas for a birthday cake
We found this teapot flower pot for her to use for a fairy garden.

Grammy and Baba found the perfect sticker book. She goes through a sticker book a day these days.
Birthday squeezes and kisses.

She got her ears pierced for her birthday with me and Scarlet. She was really brave. Her eyes filled with tears and she looked at me ready to cry but then swallowed it for the next one. It was pretty sad but then she was in earring heaven.
She left with a few accessories to go with her new earrings :)

Hazel calls goggles "oggles" and sparkles "freckles" and perogies "frowgies" and river "ribber" and hot tub is "hot dog" and sharp is "shark."

She thinks her mom smells like sparkles and her dad smells like church.

Sometimes she surprises us and says something like "good grief" at just the right moment.

She's been using the word "now" in the funniest contexts-
basically she puts it at the end of all her sentences.

She will tell me something and then say, "Know that?"

One time I was tucking her in and it was pitch dark in the room and she said, "Mom, I can't open my eyes." I totally knew what she meant- her eyes were open but she couldn't see anything!

She loves eating pita, organic Fudgsicles from Costco, raisins in her cottage cheese, smoothies,  crackers and hummus with Ez and Larabars (but we call them "Sarrabars").
