Winter 2020

Yes my brother is this handsome.

Scarlet has been making "spas" for us that include foot bath with marbles and banana masks.

Charlie was telling a friend about how our last house had more than one bathroom:
"I had a big clean bathroom all to myself. I was so blessed."
~Charlie
Ezra having his leisurely morning scripture read.

We made apple dolls! You never know how the faces will turn out once they shrivel up :)
Hazel has merged her two hobbies into one- constellations and embroidery.
Science class with John- the best teacher we could ask for.

Nature journalling happens Wednesdays. It's always a pleasure.

All our ornaments were packed this year so we made all our ornaments which
turned out to be really fun.
  Love this sweet family.
Well we seem to spend all our free time with the Walters. What a blessing to have lifelong friends.

The Young Artists Music Academy has been wonderful- the kids have really stretched their musical abilities this year.
Liz taught me to crochet snails. This is a necessary life skill. Obviously.
 Hazel at her art show.
 We've become metal stampers.
Ezra gave me a brief run down on their peg world. I know there are "Labookies" and "Cankookies" but I still don't understand how to know which is which.
Tea time with the Cool Cousin Book Club.
One of my favorite Christmas moments was Janey and Emma blowing bubbles
like they were still in the Little Learning Ladies Giggling Greatly club.
The kids jump at the chance to see these friends- even if it means getting up at 6am.
 Will is the yummiest.
Tim and I had a little getaway to Beaver Mines. What refreshment.

Charlie has perfected the healthy homemade ice cream.
He uses dates for the sweetener- it's wonderous.
A steady flow of snail mail happens around here.
 Ezra the Viking Hero
Ezra finished his report on vikings with a Viking dinner. We used wooden spoons, drank mead, made shields and brooches, and learned our viking names.

 Ezra's 8th birthday!
We had banana boats and learned how to do some balloon twisting.
We took the 3 January birthday kids out for Twin Butte Mexican.
We've been dreaming about Hazel learning the harp. It's taking some time to get organized but we hope to be hearing fairy-like music soon. She's already composed a short piece she calls,
"Bells On the Church Doors."

Jane: Mom, when are my books due?
Me: What books?
Jane: Oh! Was I dreaming? I dreamt my books were due. It was a nightmare.

Sometimes I have to hunt Jacob down for a bedtime hug and that makes him laugh his head off.
Jacob has been pinning some magnificent insects- like this Madagascar Sunset Moth.
Jane passed her drivers test like a champ.
An irreverent Jane tidbit: She leaned over to me in church one day and said,
"I want to go home and read Sherlock."
Brothers having their morning scripture study together.

"I love the seminary. It smells like a warm Book of Mormon."
~Charlie

We have the best neighbors!
Charlie playing selects. He had 38 points one game.

My lovely birthday gifts.

The kids have been doing baptisms every other Thursday and brining friends along when they can.

Scarlet tidbits:
-She loves cold showers.
-She's been stretching daily and she can almost do the splits now.
-You can usually find her in the house wherever there is a patch of sunlight to lay in.
-She listens to audiobooks on 3x speed. Literally. 3x speed! It's a major skill.
-One time I was reading aloud and she could tell I deliberating about how to skip a not nice word and she tells me, "Whatever it says you can change it for "ding-blasted" (you have to read Rabbit Hill to understand).
 What a view!
 Janey crafting old books.
I love when Charlie crawls into our bed for a nap in the sunshine.

One morning Charlie said, "Why am I awake so early? I usually wait for the house to wake up."
Learning about how to use rubber gloves without getting blood on you. Another necessary life skill?
When these two girls get together they spend most the time giggling!
 Time with cousin Isaac.
 Charlie at his organ lesson.
Best buddies in matching outfits :)
Eli the pickle man on his birthday.
These two made up a composition about the ocean together.

Ezra tidbits:
-He LOVED to flip pancakes when he was younger. Now he's been making full on meals for the whole family. We wake up to professional buttermilk french toast with blueberries now.

-He calls Dutch Blitz "Chinese Blitz" by mistake.

-His new front teeth whistle like Badger.

-Everyone was out one day except me and Ezra and I noted, "Ezra what would I have done without you staying home with me." He answered, "If I left you'd still have Hazel and if she left you'd still have the cat and if the cat left you always have Christ." It was a good point.

We get to spend small pockets of time with these friends. It always means so much to us to see them.

Field trip to the Fish Hatchery in Kalispell.

I spied these two having a serious game of Pokemon.
