My mom found the perfect poem for me. It explains why I LOVE to be home. Ready to soak this in...? STAY, stay at home, my heart, and rest;
Home-keeping hearts are happiest,
For those that wander they know not where
Are full of trouble and full of care;
To stay at home is best. | 5 |
Weary and homesick and distressed,
They wander east, they wander west,
And are baffled and beaten and blown about
By the winds of the wilderness of doubt;
To stay at home is best. | 10 |
Then stay at home, my heart, and rest;
The bird is safest in its nest;
O’er all that flutter their wings and fly
A hawk is hovering in the sky;
To stay at home is best. ~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow |

Poetry Forever
Birdies
We made pinecone bird feeders together.
Then we hung them on a tree.
Then we waited about 15 seconds before a few birds came and ate the seeds!
AMAZING!
Winter 2017
Tim has become quite competitive about playing Marble Football these days.
Jane made this sweet clay dish.
Oh how I love this dolly!
Science Center snakes and cousin time!
We would drop off the big kids for play practice and then hit the library for a while, followed by a snack stop :)
We love Barbara Reid books. Her illustrations are done in plasticine. Her website has some great tutorials. She is Canadian which makes her even cooler!
Jane enjoyed New Beginnings with her Young Women's group.
She is very blessed to be part of such a great program.
We made a ribbon wand just like Fancy Nancy's!
This poem is as talkative as Jacob gets :) I love the "obviously" part!
I always wake up in the morning,
Ready for the awakening day;
I do my scriptures right away
Then go outside to play.
It's fun to live in a cabin,
Doing fun school work;
We've been doing lots of fun housework
And driving our fowl totally beserk.
You are my teacher,
I love that.

The Gardener
By Jane E. Eaton
Raspberries, carrots, squash and snap peas,
The way these grow, you’d think we had fairies.
But it’s my mama’s green thumb that keeps them alive
She weeds and waters like a bee in a hive.
In spring she prepares our garden plot.
In summer she plants, each seed a certain spot.
In autumn she harvests, a row a day.
In winter she covers our small plot with hay.
And in the winter her work pays off,
For now we can eat our snap peas and squash.
Beside the warm glow of the fire blaze,
She whispers to the garden, “Until the spring days.”
Hazel and I keeping the love of fairies glowing.
Charlie with his marble bounty.
This kitty sits in the window all day long with us.
Cousins at the piano. What a wonderful sight.
Hazel spends so much time with the kitty.
I need to get some pics of the kids in their costumes from my mom. In case I forget, here's the ticket to their play this year. It was their first experience with theatre- they loved it!
Circuit Scribe is super cool. You can make circuits with conductive ink.
Charlie completed a Priesthood Prep class with me this winter in preparation for when he turns 12.
We are loving our town library. I caught Hazel reading like a grown up and Charlie studying in the background.
We've really enjoyed the variety of homeschool program activities at our library.
We completed a study unit on Chickens with a family egg drop. It was quite thrilling. We had some successes and some broken eggs too.
Scarlet preparing her Canopic Jars for our Ancient Egypt unit.
